Click A Tree Grow Show: Q2 2021
Tree Planting Update (+ Video)
As you have probably already noticed, we were at the lion’s den in June (season 9, episode 12). The performance was really exciting and we are very pleased that four out of five investors were so enthusiastic about our work.
Even more people became aware of Click A Tree and B’n’Tree through the broadcast of the lion’s den. And thanks to the many new partners, we can plant even more trees, create forests and create jobs for the local communities.
This article will tell you what happened on the show and what changed for Click A Tree.
We don’t want to keep you tortured any longer, here you can see what exactly that means in numbers.
As you have probably already heard, we appeared on the German version of Shark Tank (Die Höhle der Löwen, which means The Lion Den in German) in June (season 9, episode 12). It was exciting to be on the show and we are quite pleased that four out of five investors were so enthusiastic about our work.
Even more people became aware of Click A Tree and B’n’Tree through the broadcast of the lion’s den. And thanks to the many new partners, we can plant even more trees, create forests and create jobs for the local communities.
We don’t want to torture you any longer, here are the facts and numbers of Q2.
How Many Trees Were Planted
We were able to plant a total of 11,258 trees – treesome, right? It’s absolutely astonishing that we were able to achieve so much despite the lockdown.
Where These Trees Were Planted
Our Mangrove Month took place in July. We not only shared exciting mangrove details on our social networks, but also held a fun mangrove giveaway. That is why we planted a large part of the trees in the Philippines in Q2.
Philippines
Of the 11,258 trees, we planted 8301 mangrove trees in the Philippines and collected 8301 kg (around 18300 pounds) of plastic from the ocean. We not only plant trees there, but also remove 1 kg of plastic from the sea for each tree planted.
Why are we removing the plastic from the sea? The plastic endangers the underwater life and decomposes into microplastic over time. Which also ends up in our life cycle, e.g. through the fish we eat. Since we pursue a holistic sustainable approach, we are committed to fighting the plastic problem as well.
In the Philippines we plant mangrove trees, these also play an important role for the marine life. Mangrove trees purify the water and provide a home for fish and crabs.
They are a very valuable barrier between land and water because they prevent soil erosion in coastal areas.
Another very important aspect is that these are among the most efficient tree species when it comes to binding carbon dioxide (CO2).
Last quarter we planted the trees in the Philippines, this time around we planted 1303 trees in Ghana and 408 trees in Thailand.
Ghana and Thailand
In Ghana we plant over 20 different tree species and in Thailand even 40. When you plant a tree, you not only provide people with a regular income, but also help against deforestation.
Most people do not deforest out of malice, but out of economic necessity. So if we pay them not only for the planting but also for the maintenance, the economic pressure will be reduced and the forest will be preserved.
Isn’t that good news between all the bad news that we receive every day about our wonderful earth?
